Redhead Wing Duck, Philadelphia School c1860
Redhead wing duck, pre Civil War. Made in the Philadelphia/Blair school style, most likely by Albert "AB" Vance. This style decoy has been found from the Currituck Shooting Club, in North Carolina, and the Ottawa Shooting Club in Ohio. They have been refered to as "Ohio Blairs", and Type 3 Blairs, but research done by Russ Allen suggests they were most likely made by Vance in Philadelphia and sold to the wealthy Philly residents who took them to these duck hunting hot spots. Very worn original paint.
