Sam Barnes (1847-1926) lived in Havre d Grace, Md, where he worked as a decoy maker, gunner, and fisherman. This particular decoy was from the rig of Glenn L. Martin, an American aviation pioneer from Baltimore, MD. Martin was a pilot who designed and built aircraft; he founded a company that became the aviation leader Lockhead Martin. The decoy has the GLM brand on its bottom.
