  • William Heverin 1860-1951, Charlestown, Md.  Canvasback hen with several layers of working repaint.  Areas where paint is flaking on neck and breast reveal that this bird was originally painted as a drake with the red and black colors showing under the current paint.  Several thin drying cracks on back of head with missing putty and nail head exposed on top.  Lead weight and staple and ring line tie.
