Capt. Ben Dye (1821-1896) lived on Stumps Point, (Cecil County) MD, where he worked as a fisherman, market gunner, and guide.  This decoy, which is in old working repaint, was probably made between 1860-1870; its large, symmetrical shape is typical of his later decoys.
